Who I Am
My Passion
Throughout my life I have had the fortunate pleasure of being surrounded by many great people. From baseball coaches, educators, spiritual leaders, friends and family, these individuals have taken the time to share with me their life experiences and impart on me the wisdom they have gained over the years. Their willingness to invest their emotions and resources into my growth has built a passion within me to do the same. I’m a believer that our purpose in life is not to advance our own interests and leave others behind but to use our gifts, talents and resources to bless others.
Money Makes The World Go Round
If there is one truth I have learned throughout my life it is that money affects EVERY thing. From a young age we are taught that we must go to school to acquire the skills to secure a well paying job. For some people, money equals happiness. For others, money equals struggle.
Throughout the few years I have been alive I have personally seen and felt the effects of money on every level. I have seen how it can be a true blessing to families, from securing the basic necessities to paying for great life experiences. Unfortunately I have also seen the worst. Families torn a part, friendships ruined and people discarded as if their life had no value, all this over the dispute of money. What I have come to know and believe is true, is that money is not the root cause of these problems. It is the mismanagement and misguided emotional connection to money. I passionately believe that many of these problems can and should be avoided with the correct education, understanding and management of money. For professional athletes, this is only magnified. As a former player who has seen close friends and teammates be taken advantage of, misguided and ultimately left in stressful financial situations I have a personal vested interest in providing a solution to help them succeed financially. This is what led me to become a wealth manager with The AWM Group.
The Baseball Player
I played high school baseball at Villa Park High School in Southern California where as a sophomore I was lucky enough to play on the same team as my brother and win the CIF Championship.
After High School I played three seasons at Arizona State University where I was surrounded by some super star players like Travis Buck (CLE), Andre Ethier (LA), Jeff Larish (PHI) and Dustin Pedroia (BOS). Coach Pat Murphy was nice enough to let me pitch a few innings over my three years (289 innings) and my best memory was a trip to the College World Series in 2005. In 2005 I was drafted by the Detroit Tigers and enjoyed a very brief (4 years) minor league career, which included a trip down the infamous Tommy John Surgery Lane. In the end my baseball career helped shape me into who I am today and took me many great places where I met wonderful people.
